The Arduino Game Bench works like Scratch, but your game runs on a real screen: a 16 × 2 or 20 × 4 character LCD, or a 1.8″ colour TFT. Pick the screen above the stage.
- Pick your screen on the start screen: the character LCD or the colour TFT. Click the logo to come back to it.
- Sprites (actors) are listed under the stage. Click one to see its code and costumes. The + button adds a new one.
- The Stage's backdrop is the level: paint walls and coins in its Backdrop tab.
- x is the column (0 on the left) and y is the row (0 at the top), so "change y by 1" moves down.
- Click the green flag to play. Buttons 1 to 4 are the arrow keys ← → ↑ ↓; buttons 5 to 8 are Z, X, C and V.
- Buttons and LEDs (under the stage) adds parts on your board. Their blocks are in the Hardware category: turn LEDs on and off, dim them, and react to buttons.
- The character LCD holds 8 costume pictures of your own and the colour TFT holds 24. Letters and symbols are free. On the TFT, costumes are 8 × 8 pixels in colour.
- Loops are in Control: forever, repeat, repeat until, wait and wait until. A loop lets the other scripts run at the end of every time round, and wait pauses only its own script, just like Scratch.
- Sounds play on a buzzer. Pick sound effects and songs, or make a tune, in the Sounds tab. Use "start sound" to play one while the game keeps going.
- Upload shows the wiring and gives you the Arduino code.
